Off to the Southern Oregon Coast!
Brookings, Oregon
Nestled on the southernmost Oregon Coast, between the breathtaking scenery of the Oregon Coastal Range and the Pacific Ocean.
We just took our third 9 hour road trip to Brookings, to visit Auntie Pam and Uncle Perry Lewis. Only five minutes down the road Janie asked "are we there yet," little did we know it would be the first of the one hundred times she would ask. The kids all did great, it was out first road trip where all the kids were old enough to keep themselves entertained the entire time!
When we visited in the past it was beautiful weather, no such luck this trip.............we drove right into a "perfect storm" that would last until "literally" the moment we would leave. Our first attempt to walk to the beach was unsuccessful, only a few minutes into our walk we were pelted by a huge hail storm. The second attempt was a success, we enjoyed 45 min. on the beach before the return of another hail storm. Gracie was too intimidated by the raging winds to join us on our beach journey, she stayed home with Pam and Perry.
Janie and Carter running home,
trying to get out of the hail storm!
Pam had just finally come home after a four month hospital stay. That is the main reason we visited, we figured she was in need of some help, company, and we were anxious to give her a big hug after not being sure for a few wks. if she was going to make it. They live about 6 hours away from Portland, where the majority of their family lives.
The kids really enjoy driving through the Redwood National Park,
especially getting out of the car and having their picture taken with the huge trees!

Of course the day we were leaving the storm moved out, and the sunshine moved in. We were sad to go with the beautiful weather moving in. About an hour down the road we made a pit stop to the beach, couldn't leave without enjoying a stroll on the beach in the sunshine!
